About MundrosIt was in 2001 that Mundros first began his djing journey. In the 8 years that have followed his work ethos, technical ability and sheer love for music in all its forms has ensured he has built up quite the reputation in the North. It is in Leeds that Mundros has made most of his musical waves, playing at plethora of Leeds’s top nights and clubs including the legendary Back2Basics, Dirty Disco, The Mint Club, Wire, The Faversham, Purrfect Electro, Gatecrasher Discoteque, Ketoloco and many, many afterparties! Not content with just playing at other peoples events in the city though, in 2003 he joined up with Leeds’s Sunday night institute ‘Sunday Roast’. He also currently plays at the Resonance night held one Friday a month at the riverside bar, The Karma Lounge. On top of all this he is resident at one of Leeds’s best loved nights, The Wasted Talent Show. It is this residency that has seen him play along Butane (Alphahouse), Sweet N' Candy (Dumb Unit) and Mark Henning (Soma). Other Dj’s he has played with include Dave Beer (Back2Basics), Harri (sub club), Tim Sheridan, Justin Long (Dot Bleep) and Leo Belchetz (Chibuku), however, Mundros’ musical mastery doesn’t stop at his Djing. Under the guise of “Hot Sand” with fellow music innovator Craig West, he has turned his hand to production. Tracks including ‘What You Thinking’ and ‘Bamshanked V.1’ were rapturously received when played at Wire in Leeds and over in Berlin. Mundros’s alfresco musical career kicked off in 2007 when he played at the boutique Pitch Festival in Cumbria. Following from this, 2008 saw him take over the decks from Annie Nightingale at the Kendal Calling festival. International Djing has come in the form of playing at several avant-garde bars in Berlin, The Shelter and Logo in Shanghai-China and Ibiza’s Zoo Project. Though much of Mundros’ sets are techno/house orientated, his musical appetite spans right across the musical spectrum from Pink Floyd, Rage Against the Machine, Aphex Twin, through Q-Tip, The Herbaliser and Aim, bouncing off DJ Marky and Krust, to Mike Shannon and Jonny D. He cites Jamie Jones, Matthias Tanzmann, Lee Burridge Dan Ghenacia and Terry Francis as influences along with local DJ’s Ralph Lawson (Back2Basics), Dave Martin (Technique) and Tristan Da Cunha (Back2Basics) being inspirations closer to home. If you’re out and about in Leeds you will have surely come across Mundros at some point and if you haven’t keep your eyes and more importantly ears on the look out for him in the future. You’d be daft not to. Contact Mundros at the following: mundros@googlemail.com www.myspace.com/mundrosdj Followers
